Overview
The teleprompter scrolls your script on screen while you present, so you can speak to camera instead of reading notes. Only you see it; attendees see your webinar as normal, and nothing you change in it is permanent.
Before you start, check that:
You are a webinar admin or moderator. Presenters do not see the Script menu.
You are on a desktop computer. The teleprompter is hidden on phones and tablets.
It has two parts, both opened from the Script menu in the live room header:
Part | When | Where | For |
Script panel | Before you go live | Right-hand sidebar | Writing, importing and organising your script |
Teleprompter window | While presenting | Floating window over your video | Reading it back at a steady pace |
You do not need the Script panel open to use the teleprompter; it loads your script on its own.
Step 1: Open the Script panel
Join your webinar's live room from a desktop computer.
In the room header, click Script.
Choose Open Script. The panel opens in the right-hand sidebar.
If the webinar already has an AI-generated script, it loads automatically. Skip to Step
Step 2: Add your script
Choose one of two ways. The upload box only appears when the panel has no script yet.
Option A: Upload a document
Drag your file onto the upload box, or click Browse files.
Use a .txt or .docx file of up to 5 MB.
Wait for it to load. Each heading in a Word document becomes its own section, whether you used Word's Heading styles or bold text on its own line.
Old .doc files are not supported. Open the file in Word, save it as .docx, then upload it again.
Option B: Paste your text
Paste your script into the Paste Script box below the upload area.
Click Continue.
Your text arrives as one section. Split it in Step 3 if you want to move between parts while presenting.
Step 3: Organise your sections
Your script is a list of sections: the chunks you move between while presenting. Each card shows the section's name, roughly when it falls in the run, and its word count. Every change saves to your webinar automatically.
Open a section. Sections start collapsed. Click one to see its full text in an editable box and a ⋮ menu.
Edit the text. Type in the box, then click the Save button that appears for that section.
Rename it. Click the section name and type. Press Enter to confirm or Escape to undo.
Split it. Right-click in the text where you want the break and choose Split section here, or use ⋮ → Split at cursor. The new half is numbered after the first, for example 1.1, 1.2.
Merge sections. Choose ⋮ → Merge with next or Merge with previous.
Remove a section. Choose ⋮ → Remove and confirm. This cannot be undone, so click Cancel if you want to keep the text.
Add a section. Click Add Section at the bottom of the list, give it a name and paste its text. Use this to add to an existing script.
Step 4: Open the teleprompter
In the room header, click Script → Open Teleprompter. You can also click Start Teleprompter at the bottom of the Script panel.
The reading window floats above your video. Your current line sits on the focus line across the middle, highlighted; text above and below is dimmed.
If you reopen it mid-session, choose whether to continue where you left off or start from the beginning.
Step 5: Position the window and adjust how it looks
Move it. Drag the window by its header anywhere on screen, including outside the video area. Place it so it does not cover your own video.
Resize it. Drag the bottom-right corner.
Open Reading appearance from the controls along the bottom. Changes apply straight away, so adjust while looking at the text.
Set the text size. Larger text is easier to read from an arm's length away, but shows fewer upcoming words.
Set the text colour. Pick a preset or your own colour. This helps over bright slides or busy backgrounds.
Set the window opacity between 30% and 100%. Lower values let your video show through so you can check your framing.
Optional: go full screen for the longest view ahead. Press Escape to return.
Step 6: Present with the teleprompter
Press Play (or the Space bar) to start scrolling. Press it again to pause.
Check the speed. At 1x the script scrolls at 130 words per minute, an unhurried speaking pace. Click the speed control to open the slider or pick 1x, 2x, 3x or 4x. Use higher speeds only to skim ahead, not for delivery. Changing speed never loses your place.
Move between sections with the Previous / Next section buttons or the ← and → keys.
Jump to any point by clicking a segment on the bar above the controls. Each segment is one section; hover to see its name and length.
Scroll by hand whenever you need to, even while playing. Playback picks up from wherever you stopped.
Keyboard shortcuts work whenever you are not typing in a text box:
Key | Action |
Space | Play or pause |
← / → | Previous or next section |
Escape | Leave full screen |
Understanding the clock
The clock under the script shows elapsed / total, for example 01:39 / 08:42. The total is how long your script takes to read at 1x and does not change with speed; at 2x, one minute of real time moves the clock two minutes.
The Script panel and the teleprompter often show different totals, and both are correct:
Where | Shows | Example |
Script panel | Time allotted to each section when the script was written | 45 min 2 sec |
Teleprompter | How long the words take to say at 130 wpm | 08:42 |
A large gap usually means the script is short for its slot. Plan to fill that time with demos, questions, or discussion.
